I used to live in Japan 10 years ago.
Strange feelings of sadness.
The Big One was very expected there for a while.
But more than that is the tsunami. Unbelivable.

As a geophysician, I can say that's normal to see those events specifically in Japan because it is located in a high density area of tectonic plates movements. There the Pacific plate enter under the North America plate and create earthquakes and volcano eruptions. Another thing that doesn't help in that case is the fact that the North Pole is melting so the ice is lighter creating less weight and pressure on the plates and then have an impact on the frequency and high level collisions.

We will see more and more extreme situations like that. Ab could confirm me or not, but Japaneses are used and normally well prepared for these events, but not at the level they encountered this week. Everybody were surprized and the fact that many nuclear sites are affected is a good example.

Some people believes Nuke are good ... it's a wet dream.

I thought the north pole was floating?

You're right, it is floating but there a lot of ice on high banks so the pressure is on. Pressure of ice on water and then on plates are high anyway and when it releases, it creates a different level of collision.

Very sad, I just hope they get all the help possible and the lost of life is somewhat limited to the lesser side what it could be.
They don't need nuclear issues on top of all they are experiencing.
Not so sure about these power sources, when they good bad, they go very bad.
